General Information
From 1st January 2008, any child wishing to enter pony racing must be a member of the Pony Racing Authority (PRA), the membership fee is £20 and must be renewed annually. Membership of the PRA provides each child with personal liability insurance, as well as other benefits: contact details – Pony Racing Authority, Cheltenham Racecourse, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL50 4SH. Tel: 01242 513014 E-mail: info@pra.gb.com Website: www.pra.gb.com. You will receive your rule book once you have joined – please read this carefully. In addition we would like to draw your attention to the following rules which are applicable in SE point to point pony racing:
•To qualify to be entered in a SE Pony Race, the hunt qualification or Pony Club Qualification certificate must be accompanied by a signed photograph of the child and pony. Please follow the instructions on the certificates included.
•For ponies requiring a JMB height certificate, unless your pony holds a Life Height Certificate the renewal date is 1st January 2009.
If you have raced previously you must bring your Medical Record Book to each race. New jockeys will be issued with their MRBs at their first race meeting.
Please indicate your eligibility for any special prizes as detailed in this schedule on your entry form.
Balloting Procedures: Three Reserve entries will be accepted for each race in line with the priority regulations. Reserves will be notified as soon as possible if a place becomes available. Reserves will be allocated numbers and included in the race card information but this is NOT an indication of a guarantee to run. Reserves remain thus until notified otherwise. Entry fees will be refunded if a Reserve is not offered a chance to run. In the event of the entries exceeding the safety factor of runners for the Finals to be held at Plumpton on the 10th May 2009 priority will be given to those with the most points according to the 2009 Championship Table. Pony / Jockey combinations will accrue points as a partnership so that if the same pony is raced by different jockeys any points will be allocated to each combination separately.
Entry Fees: Cheques to be made payable to host hunt and sent to Mrs Helen Sarchet, Danetre, New Rd, Sundridge Kent TN14 6DJ. Confirmation of entry, itinerary and associated instructions will be sent out via e-mail. It is the responsibility of the jockey and/or his parents/guardian to check that emailed information has been received. Please enclose a sae with your entry if you do not receive e-mails.
Distances: These will be published as soon as possible in advance of entry. Please note that the distances run are decided by the individual clerks of the courses and are subject to last minute changes according to racing conditions on the day
* Hunting/PC ponies will be judged at the discretion of the organisers but will generally be deemed to be native or heavyweight types.
** The novice rider prize will only be awarded to the same jockey a maximum of two times.
Whilst every effort is being made to ensure that the rules are upheld, if anyone wishes to complain it must be taken to the Senior Steward on the Point to Point course or alternatively, lodge the required deposit and file your complaint to the PRA.
Pony Racing has its own message board for information so please refrain from using the Pointing SE message board as a chat room.
