NEW COURSE NOTES
The course starts at the bottom of the hill beyond where the 3rd fence used to be.There is a nice straight uphill run to the first followed by a gentle left turn into fence 2. The course then goes uphill to Bog Common Lane veering left just before the road to cross the rugby pitches on the inside of the old racing line. Fence 3 is positioned half way across the rugby pitches. Left again and uphill to the open ditch, newly sited just beyond the end of the rugby club car park.. Then a gradual left handed turn into the back straight across the gliding club runway to two island fences as before although they will be slightly further out than before to make the track 3 miles exactly. This will also help the turn out of the back straight and down the hill to fences 7 and 8 which are quite close together, fence 8 being where the old open ditch used to be. Fence 7 has to be quite close to 8 in order to be on level ground and not downhill.
After fence 8 left handed and down into the dip and onto the second circuit. Fences 1 and 2 will also be the last two fences with the winning line being where the last fence used to be. The distance from the last fence to the winning line is exactly the same as at Charing.
The exit from the paddock is at the top of the hill past the winning line so the horses will turn left out of the shute and go downhill to the start. At the start the horses will come off the track on the inside in the assembly area to have their girths checked etc as at Godstone. There is a fence section in the assembly area if jockeys dont want to show their horses to fence 1.
