You arrive and go and meet your trainer, and see your proud beast in the lorry park whilst you discuss the opposition and your chances – should you invest your ‘maximum’ or just a saver today?
"You head into the paddock with the family to meet your jockey wearing your chosen design of colours, and discuss tactics. Then they are away, you spot your colours through shaking binoculars as they cross the first few fences – he’s jumping well, but is it enough? Your colours move up through the field slowly but surely and as the leaders turn into the straight you’re still in with a chance… its agonising as three abreast they jump the last, and then it’s nip and tuck to the line… and then the celebrations begin, you hug your trainer, you hug your jockey and then the champagne corks start popping, and they don’t stop quickly!!”
