SE Area Awards Night 2008

The area's prizes were distributed at the end of season party staged at Highfields Farm, Mayfield, on Saturday June 14th. Some 200 people enjoyed a fine summer's evening as guests of Mr and Mrs Simon Tindall, and the proceedings were conducted by David Rhys-Jones at the top of his form.

There were a few notable absentees: area chairman Colin Squance, and Supporters' Club chairman (and official starter) Howard Jarvis were unavoidably elsewhere, as were former champion rider Philip Hall, the Grissell family and a few others with commitments to holidays and weddings.

Hucking trainer John Best presented the prizes and bore the brunt of Rhysy's teasing for earning almost £1,250,000 in prize money and turning up in an Aston Martin. "Not bad for a former point-to-point trainer in Kent", said Rhysy.
